Sessions
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 3
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4
10:00 AM - Juggling Network Protocols: Luminex in Action | Benjamin Wahiche, Applications Specialist, LUMINEX
| Gerr is pleased to welcome Benjamin from Luminex for a hands-on session exploring how to design and manage reliable networked audio systems that integrate multiple protocols - MILAN, AES67, and Dante.
Using a Meyer Sound system as part of the demonstration, Ben will show how Luminex switches handle diverse network traffic while maintaining synchronization, stability, and performance. The session will also touch on real-world applications with Clear-Com and other AES67-based systems, offering practical insight into how to get multiple protocols working together seamlessly on a single network.
11:30 AM - KLANG: Step Into the Mix | Jason "Redz" Reynolds, Monitor Engineer (Shaggy, Marley Brothers, Skip Marley)
| Step inside the mix with Jason “Redz” Reynolds as he demonstrates how KLANG’s immersive in-ear technology transforms monitoring from stereo to full 3D. Learn how positioning, depth, and space can help artists hear better, preserve their ears and reduce fatigue - all while seamlessly integrating into the DiGiCo ecosystem.
10:00 AM - Don't Fix it in the Mix: Get it Right at the Source | Paul Andrews, Global Support & Business Development, DPA Microphones
| Join Paul Andrews from DPA Microphones for a hands-on, ears-on session exploring the art of microphone placement and the advantages of linear microphones in both live and studio environments.
With a career spanning from A&M Records to Bridge Recording Studios, and credits including Sheryl Crow, Aerosmith, Boyz II Men, and the CSU Symphony Orchestra, Paul brings a wealth of real-world experience and a tasteful dose of humour to every demo.
This highly interactive workshop goes beyond specs - Paul will record and play back live instrument samples using various mic types and placements, demonstrating how DPA microphones deliver true-to-source sound with no processing required. Expect drum hits, guitar riffs, and plenty of practical insight into how to get the sound you want right from the start.
Paul will also highlight the benefits of DPA’s linear microphone design, showing how accuracy and transparency at the source make mixing easier and performances more natural. Whether you work in live sound, studio recording, or film production, you’ll leave with practical techniques - and a few new ways to think about your microphone setup.
11:30 AM - The Audio Challenges of Multi-Mic, Multi-Speaker Rooms | Marc Wilson, Managing Director, Glensound (UK)
| From parliamentary chambers to provincial courtrooms and municipal council halls, achieving clear and reliable audio in spaces with multiple microphones and loudspeakers comes with unique acoustic and networking challenges. Drawing on Glensound’s extensive experience including projects such as the English Parliament, Northern Ireland Assembly and Scottish Parliament in the UK, and the recently commissioned Alberta Legislature here in Canada, Marc will explore the unique challenges of these complex environments.
This session will dive into how Glensound’s Parliamentary Broadcast System and control software combine Dante-based networking, dynamic delay management, and advanced feedback control to deliver seamless, intelligible audio for even the most acoustically demanding rooms. Attendees will gain insight into the system design philosophies and technology that make these large-scale installations both flexible and rock-solid in real-world use.
11:30 AM - From Set to Stage: Real-World Wireless with Sound Devices ASTRAL | Gary Trenda (RF Applications Engineer, Sound Devices) & Adam Clark (Founder, Toronto Sound)
| Join Sound Devices’ Gary Trenda and Toronto Sound’s Adam Clark for an in-depth look at the ASTRAL wireless ecosystem - Sound Devices’ next-generation platform redefining performance and reliability in professional RF workflows.
Gary will break down the technical innovation behind the Sound Devices ASTRAL wireless family, including SpectraBand™ wideband tuning, advanced digital modulation, HexVersity™ multi-antenna systems, real-time spectrum analysis (RTSA), and seamless integration with production workflows for live and broadcast environments. Adding a real-world perspective, Adam will share his hands-on experiences using ASTRAL systems in high-pressure location sound applications, from film sets to live productions, highlighting how the gear performs in demanding conditions.
This session bridges engineering insight and field experience, offering attendees a rare opportunity to learn directly from both the team behind the technology and one of its most active users in Canada. Come check out why ASTRAL is being chosen for some of today's largest touring shows!
1:30 PM - Do Sweat the Small Stuff: Designing and Optimizing Fill Systems | Bob McCarthy, Director of System Optimization, Meyer Sound
| Fill speakers may be small, but they play a big role in delivering a consistent audience experience. In this session, Bob McCarthy breaks down how to design, deploy, and optimize fill systems that seamlessly integrate with the main audio system. From front fills and under-balcony speakers to loge and side seating coverage up to outdoor delay towers, Bob will explore how thoughtful system design, time alignment, and level management can extend intelligibility and tonal consistency across the entire listening space.
Through real-world examples and Meyer Sound’s design philosophy, attendees will learn why paying attention to the “small stuff” can yield significant improvements in overall system performance — and a happier audience too!
1:30 PM - Low End Logic: Why One Size Doesn't Fit All | Bob McCarthy, Director of System Optimization, Meyer Sound
| Sometimes that line of subs in front of the stage isn’t the right solution. In this session, Bob McCarthy explores why - unpacking the theory and application of subwoofer arrays and how thoughtful design choices can dramatically improve low-frequency performance.
Attendees will learn how time alignment, phase, and spacing affect coverage, impact, and consistency, before seeing these concepts brought to life through a live demonstration using Meyer Sound subwoofers including the brand new USW-121P.
From theory to real-world deployment, Bob will show how smarter array design can deliver cleaner, tighter, and more musical low end - proving that when it comes to subwoofers, one size definitely doesn’t fit all.
3:00 PM - Mastering Dante - Solving Common Network Design Challenges in Modern Audio Systems | Derek Badala, Director of Sales - The Americas, Synthax
| As Dante continues to dominate the Audio over IP landscape, integrators and audio professionals are increasingly challenged to design, expand, and troubleshoot Dante networks that must coexist with legacy and hybrid systems. This class dives deep into how to adapt and optimize audio formats for Dante-based networks, identify and correct common Dante design flaws, and simplify complex audio routing for both small and large-scale installations.
We’ll explore best practices for Dante Domain Manager, clocking and redundancy strategies, and techniques for integrating Dante with other formats such as AES67, MADI, and analog. Attendees will leave with a stronger understanding of how to improve network reliability, scalability, and interoperability, while avoiding the most frequent pitfalls seen in Dante system design.
Whether you’re upgrading existing infrastructure or building from the ground up, this session will give you the insight to design smarter, cleaner, and more efficient Dante audio networks that perform seamlessly in the real world.
