Meet Adrian Sterling
"I've always been willing and happy to step in and assist people if they hit a brick wall and need help, and when Gerr first approached me, this is what they were looking for.  Essentially, my job is to keep doing what I've always done, but with Gerr and the products we represent and customers we serve."  -  Adrian Sterling, GerrAudio Distribution

Adrian Sterling’s lifelong passion for audio began early on, he explains, “I grew up playing music in church, started doing sound there, then branched out, mixing for my musician friends who were gigging in bars and doing that whole circuit.”

Sterling went on to study computer programming for a time, before enrolling in the Harris Institute. He continued mixing as a freelancer for various artists, CBC, and Much Music while working at PA Plus/Solotech until taking on his new role as Ontario Sales and Technical Support Manager for GerrAudio in December 2021.

Sterling has garnered a reputation as an expert in the field of audio and communications technology and brings 20-plus years of experience in commercial AV, broadcast, TV & film production, and post-production to the table, as well as a unique understanding of the needs of Gerr’s customers.

“At Solotech, one of the things I used to work on were the NHL stadium series games, designing and deploying very large systems controlled via networked audio,” he says. Consequently, Sterling gained an intimate understanding of the workflow and challenges facing everyone on site, from FOH/monitor engineers, to RF Technicians. “Essentially, becoming the guy who could put out any fires and oversee the entire infrastructure.”

That’s stem to stern knowledge makes him eminently well suited for the vast array of applications the technology GerrAudio represents is brought to bear on, as does his experience as a long-time Gerr customer himself, and the lengthy relationships he’s developed with many of the company’s end users.

“Many people I’m working with now I’ve worked with for years,” he says, explaining that those relationships and his experiences in the live production world allow him to fulfil client’s needs and facilitate the process of finding the ideal solution for them, “while hitting the points they need to have covered to inform their purchases. Essentially, I can say, ‘Well, when this happens, kick it here,” he adds, laughing.

Sterling sees his work at GerrAudio as a natural extension of what he’s done previously. “The real world experience I have in the field, in general and with the products we represent, helps me understand things from the customer side, because I’ve been the customer. I've always been willing and happy to step in and assist people if they hit a brick wall and need help, and when Gerr first approached me, they explained to me that this was exactly what they were looking for.  Essentially, my job is to keep doing what I've always done, but with Gerr and the products we represent and customers we serve.
